Associations

Woodstock Runners is a popular running and walking club based in the Inner West of Sydney and is the club I have run with the most. I have held different Committee positions over the years, and am still involved with the club even though I haven't trained with the club very much since moving to the Blue Mountains. They meet every Tuesday night at 6pm at Woodstock Community Centre in Burwood, every Thursday night at 6:30pm at Campbell Athletic Track in Ashbury for interval training (which I founded), and every Saturday morning at 7:20am at Brett Park in Drummoyne. They also organise many social events to various running festivals all over the state which are real highlights. If you are in Sydney, this is the club to be part of!

Running Wild Trail Running Association is a non-for profit organisation based in the Blue Mountains. The volunteer committee put on a number of short course races in the Blue Mountains which are great for beginners or runners wanting to try out trail running races. Additionally, there are three long course races each year which are suited for the more experienced trail or ultra runner. 2012/13 will be the third season and promises to be bigger and better than all before it!

Sydney Marathon Clinic (SMC) is actually nothing like what the name implies! SMC is based in Smithfield in Western Sydney and put on a great road race series every year. These races are perfect training for those wanting to improve their racing performance. The courses are all measured and certified and the level of competition is usually very high! I give a lot of credit to SMC for improving my road racing; the regularity of the races and the brilliant organisation of the races are ideal. All for a very low fee too!

Blue Mountains Marathon Clinic (BMMC) is an informal collection of Blue Mountains athletes, who share the love of running, adventure and the outdoors. There are a few regular training runs; Tuesday morning from Warimoo and Thursday morning from Mt Riverview. Additionally, the Leura Icebergs, who run under the auspices of BMMC, meet every Friday at 7:30am for a 10km 'coffee' run. Check out the Facebook page for more information.

AURA is the governing body of ultra running in Australia and are responsible for the growth of development of the sport in Australia. AURA are responsible for the selection of Australian Teams for Commonwealth and World Championship events. I encourage all ultra runners to join and support AURA.
